What happens on the Second day of school

Steel has been looking forward to going to Kindergarten for at least the last 2 years but I think his excitement got the best of him. On the second day he was having to much fun on the Uneven Bars at recess and broke his arm!! This has been a big bummer and has not made the transition to school as easy as we had anticipated for him. I'm hoping that next week will be a better week for him and that the next 4 weeks can go by fast so he can be back to normal. I guess we will never forget his second day of Kindergarten.

Sophie's Birthday

Sophie turned 3 this past week. I can't believe it has been 3 years already yet at the same time it has been a long 3 years, not so much because of her but just our crazy life over the past 3 years.  Shay surprised her with a pink rose and some cute polka  dot balloons, she of course had a pink cake and we had fun doing girly things on her special day. We did nails, she and I of course, and watched Tangled her new favorite movie. We had a special breakfast her choice and yummy pizza for dinner.

A look back at the beginning

The big 3, giving 2 thumbs up for the fun gifts she got
The pink cake, had to be pink on the inside too
Getting some help from her brothers to blow out the candles
 Yummy dinner
Her breakfast, she choose to have sausage, she loves sausage and scrambled eggs, had to have a candle in the toast too!!
Her surprise gift from her Dad the night before her birthday, he wasn't sure if he would be home to celebrate it because of work, in the end he made it home for our dinner celebration.
We sure love this Girl!!

Back to School!

Yesterday was the first day of school, Summer went by super fast and I feel like we didn't get a chance to do all the things I was hoping we would but since my kids spent most of the day fighting it is a good thing school started. They were excited and very ready!!  Especially Steel since he is a Kindergartner this year. It is all day here so that will be an adjustment but I think he won't have to many problems. Sophie is super sad that she doesn't get to go to school though.  However, she didn't ask for her brothers once while they were gone yesterday.  I think she is ready to have some quality Mom time for a change and have the house be a little quieter.

Love Steel's excitement here but Zach is not nearly as excited

Seattle Trip

Last week we went to Seattle for a fun family trip. I am originally from there and have not been back in about 15 years. All my Dad's family still lives there, so it was great to see all of them and have them meet my family. We also got to see Shay's uncle Jim who lives in Friday Harbor. My parents met us there and joined us in our adventures it was great. Despite being in chilly Seattle area we all came home with a tan so it still felt like summer! Some of the fun things we did, is go to the top of the Space Needle, visit Pikes Market, go to Ballard Locks see boats being lifted up and down and also saw the salmon going up stream, had a great family dinner at my Uncle Brent's house, visited Vashon Island(this is where we lived part of the time growing up) went to Shelton(Olympia area) where my Grandparents live and stayed with my Uncle Steve and Aunt Debbie. The kids had fun building stuff in his wood shop and going kayaking and row boating and playing on the zip line and rope swing he built. Then the last leg of our trip we headed up to the San Juan Islands for 3 days in Friday Harbor and enjoyed spending time with Shay's Uncle and enjoying the beauty. My Dad took Shay and I on a chartered Salmon fishing one day, that was fun now we have lots of Salmon in our freezer, and his Uncle took us up in his little airplane for an Ariel view of the islands, very pretty. We saw a Lavender farm, took the kids to a whale museum and enjoyed playing lots at the beaches. It was a great trip, the kids even survived the long drive to and from Seattle and all around.  Here are some cute pictures from our trip.

Playing with the swords Uncle Steve made for them
Steel trying out the kid sized kayak that my uncle built, he thought it was fun to tip into the water and did it like 5 times, despite the water being super chilly
Sophie and Steel on the rowboat with Grandpa Bob that my Uncle made
Zach having fun looking for shells
Riding the ferry boats, the kids had fun with all the ferry's we got to ride, Zach was a little nervous that they were going to sink but luckily we did just fine
Vashon Island, at one of the beaches
Steel had a blast playing in the water he even got hot, silly kid
Zach was most interested in playing with all the drift wood and trying to build stuff out of them
On the ferry again
Sophie and I at the Ballard locks
On top of the Space Needle
Checking out all the fish at Pikes Market
This picture is out of order but this is Zachary and Shay kayaking, Zachary tipped once and then Shay while trying to help him tipped into the water too. Luckily they stayed close to shore in shallow waters and despite being cold Zach was determined to get back in and figure it out.

Announcement

Today we found out that we will be having another BOY, coming the first week in January or maybe before, since all my kids have come early. Feeling a little overwhelmed at the prospect of having 3 boys but we will sure love him and he will be a great addition to our family. Sophie will defiantly be the family princess and I'm grateful I at least have one girl to share girly things with and lots of boys to keep me on my toes!!

Track and Field day

Today was a beautiful day so I decided to go ahead and bring the kids to the annual Track and Field Day in town. Both boys had fun participating in the running races and 1 Field event. Zachary ran the 400 and 200 meter races and did the standing jump. Steel ran the 200 and 50 meter and did the softball throw. It was a long afternoon but the kids had fun and it was good exercise for them.

Last Day

Yesterday was Zachary's last day of school for this year. I can't believe how fast his 1st grade year went and I can't believe it is summer break already. It was a bittersweet ending for him. He is excited about summer break and moving on to 2nd grade but he loved his past year and is sad to not get to have his teacher again. He's learned a lot this past year though and we are so happy he had such a good year.
